Moving Day!

Today is bittersweet for me. We have found a great house that we are so excited to call our new home! However, leaving Barrett's 1st room behind has been a little harder on Mommy than I thought.

I took this picture real quick with my phone because I felt like this moment needed to be documented somehow.

Half Birthday!

I cannot believe that our little one is already 6 months old! He continues to make us laugh everyday. We love watching him discover and learn how to do new things. He's learning so fast! In fact, he's found his crawling position ... so it's just a matter of time before he starts moving!

He's also going through a Mommy Phase right now. Which, I admit can be exhausting, but I've never felt so loved! He thinks I can fix anything ~ just by holding him. He really is Mommy's Sweet Boy.

Things I Don't Want to Forget:

• the way he finally can take a nap without screaming first. A little Twinkle Twinkle goes a LONG way!
• the way his face lights up when he sees Mommy or Daddy
• how excited I am that he's about to lean how to crawl (knowing that my whole world is about to change here pretty soon!)
• the way he makes a "umph" sound once the finds his spoon finally
• singing "Itsy Bitsy Spider" stops his crying 99.9% of the time (and that's the ONLY song that works)
• how he will stop EVERYTHING that he is doing to watch a car go by
• the squeal he makes when he gets really excited or wants something
• the way he kicks his legs with excitement when he sees his bottle
• the way he wants to know what everything is, how it works, and where it's going
• the way it feels when he falls asleep on me at bedtime

We love you so much Little Barrett. You have change our lives and our hearts in ways that we never could have imagined. You are such a precious gift, and I thank God every night when I'm putting you to bed for the privilege of being YOUR Mommy.

we're going to take you with us to our new house!

Barrett's First Easter

Such a busy Easter weekend! We bought a house. Had family lunch at Nana and Papa's. Sunday morning church. And Gamma and Poppy come to visit! Below are some pics of Barrett and his gifts from the Easter Bunny.

The Small Things

We have a LOT going on in our little family right now. We've been house hunting, lost out on a few houses, finally found one! And we're currently packing to move!

But it's the small things in life that make me really happy. Barrett did NOT want to go down for his morning nap today. I just let him cry thinking he would fall asleep any minute. But he didn't.

So I finally went in to soothe him, and he just got angry. Usually when I pick him up, he just gets even angrier. I'm the only person that we will not fall asleep on. He falls asleep on Daddy, on Nana, and on Gamma. But never Mommy.

Until today! The second I picked him up, he snuggled his head right into that spot on my neck, and immediately fell asleep. Instantly. We sang Twinkle Twinkle for a few minutes before I put him back in his crib. And it was just a sweet moment.

Is it teaching him to be a good napper? No. To soothe himself? No. But, boy do I feel loved!

Sweet Boy

Today I found myself tearing up, multiple times, thinking about how fast my little boy is growing up. It was a far cry from yesterday when Barrett laughed at the Keurig coffee maker, as if he was saying, "That's not going to help you today Mommy." Long story short: we were trapped in the break room at Walmart while we waited out the tornadoes.

Today was different. Barrett spent the whole morning playing and entertaining himself while I was trying to pack up the house. (It was a slow process since it was way more entertaining to make him giggle then to actually pack.)

But a few things happened today that made me STOP packing, worrying about where we are going to live in a month, and clean bottles. And time just stood still while I admired my sweet little one:

First of all, how precious is this face? We have worked SO HARD on nap time. It wasn't that long ago that he would scream every time we laid him down. And then we went through a horrible (for me) cry it out period. Today I just rubbed his tummy and sang "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." Barrett looked up at me, grinned, and just laid there until he fell asleep. No crying. No fighting. No Mommy pulling out her hair. Just a sweet moment.

Nap time was over when he started pushing his little toosh higher and higher. He also just started sleeping on his tummy ... my big boy!

He LAUGHED at Veggie Tales. He usually has no idea that we've turned on a kid show. It was just funny to see him make some sort of connection. And he watched/played for almost the whole show while I packed up his newborn clothes.

And he sat up by himself FOREVER while he played with Cookie Monster.

Today was one of those days when my heart almost exploded with each moment I spent with my sweet baby boy.

March Madness

March has been a busy month for us! Barrett officially has 4 teeth, and is still working on mastering rolling consistently. He always does it when I walk away or when I'm not paying attention. But when he knows I'm watching, he'll cry instead of rolling

over by himself. Mama's

Boy. But I'm ok with that!

His newest skill is sitting up. He wants to sit up ALL THE TIME! He loves to play with his feet or the tag on a toy while he's sitting. And every time he laughs he falls over, but we are having so much fun working on it!

We went to College Station for a few days to see Uncle Kyle.

And then we went to the Woodlands to celebrate Mommy's, Aunt Lindsey's, and Maw Maw's birthdays.

When we got home, we decided there was not time like the present to try peas!

March is passing way to quickly. Before I know it my baby is going to be 6 months old!

5 Months

How is it possible that Barrett is already 5 months old?!?! This has been a great past month for us! All 3 of us.

Barrett has continued to learn how to play and entertain himself with his toys.

And he thinks his parents are hilarious!

(Something that I know will fade away as he grows up. So I'm going to enjoy it now!)

And we have teeth! Last week he got his first 3 teeth: 2 on the bottom and 1 on the top!

I'm sure that 4th tooth is on it's way too.

Below are his 5 month pictures. As you can see, he was not too thrilled when we started. But when I started dancing and jumping around like a goofball ... well you can see how he reacted.

Things I don't want to forget:

• his tickle spot on the right side of his neck
• the way he smiles at himself in the mirror
• how he discovers EVERYTHING around him ~ wants to know what everything is, what everything does, and everything that is happening
• the look on his face when he sees me or his dad after we've been away for a while
• his obsession with his feet
• how cute he is when he raises his eyebrows when he giggles really hard
• the way it feels when I put him to bed at night and he falls asleep with his head on my shoulder, and arms stretched out like he's giving me a hug
• his "wild professor" hair
• the way he attacks his spoon with a "hhmmph" each time he takes a bite of his rice cereal
• they way he "holds" his bottle: he grabs it on both sides and puts the actual bottle part in his mouth. And if he does manage to get his mouth on the right part, he tries to drink from it as if he was drinking from a straw. We're working on it :)
