Easter is such a *sweet* holiday. On top of the candy and the sweet treats, we get to focus our attention on the sweetest gift Jesus could have ever given us.
We started easter week by prepping our Easter baskets for Egg Hunts.
Our first Easter Celebration of the week was an party and egg hunt at school!
Getting Prepped for a Picture
Still Working on It
The scored some sweet treats and came home with Easter crafts.
And then we had to read our favorite Easter story.
My Favorite Cuddle Bunnies
My most favorite memory of Easter this year is Barrett "reading" this book to his sisters. He memorized the whole book, which happens to give a pretty good explanation how Jesus spent his last days on Earth. And the impact that the cross had on us. Listening to these words come out of your child, with such authority, and unwavering faith, .... well it will make your heart melt.
Every year on Good Friday, we go to an Easter Egg Hunt at a local park. This year some of our besties came with us! I love this Egg Hunt. The kids get to play, they listen to the Easter story about Jesus, and then they get to "hunt" eggs in the park. Such a fun way to start the weekend.
About as Good as it Gets When I Tell Them to Stop Eating Chocolate
Silly Daddy!
Since it was such a pretty day, we went out to eat and then played a little while longer outside!
Payton found a purple door. Girl loves purple! So obviously we took a picture by the purple door.
Blurry - But Adorable
My Girl
To wrap up the night Nana came over to help us make Resurrection Rolls. The older my kids get, the more I love this tradition. Barrett can help explain all the details of how Jesus was missing from the tomb. I don't think the girls quite put it all together yet, but they were SHOCKED that the marshmallows disappeared from inside their rolls. It's such a cool visual for them!
Aproned Up and Ready to Roll
When Nana brings out the Easter Candy, she gets lots of hugs!
Parks was probably already eating hers before she hugged Nana. :) (I mean ... I'm probably right!)
Saturday we dyed Easter Eggs. Barrett helped me boil the eggs to get them ready.
Jesus Helped Too
The kids woke up EARLY on Sunday morning, and literally ran to their Easter baskets!
Gamma and Poppy decided at the last minute to come visit us for Easter. We loved having our last minute visitors.
Later that morning, Barrett found some eggs in the backyard. We must have been in such a rush to get out the door, that we didn't even SEE them earlier. Everyone grabbed their baskets and got to work!
Promised Candy for a Good Family Picture
Since the weather was so pretty, we took Gamma, Poppy, Uncle Kyle, and Aunt Irene to one of our favorite Sunday brunch places.
Happy Easter my littles! You have no idea how much I love watching you start to put the pieces together about the incredible gift Jesus gave all of us. As your mom, you challenge me daily when it comes to having a child like faith. Sometimes your answers to questions are so simple, it reminds me that not everything has to be complicated. Jesus died, the angel said "do not be afraid," and Jesus rose from the grave, so that we all can go to Heaven some day.
