Pumpkin Patch Birthday

Why Do These 2 Keep Pointing at Me?!?!

 After the big birthday party celebration on Saturday, we got to spend Sunday with our little TODDLER.  We went to breakfast with Gamma, Poppy, and Aunt Lindsey.  And I ordered food for Barrett at a restaurant for the first time ever!  He loooved his pancake from Main Street Cafe.

After breakfast, and naptime, we took Barrett to his very first Pumpkin Patch.  Nana, Aunt Kelley, Aunt Rachel, and Aunt Mary decided to come with us!  Halls Farms is just down the street from their house, so we just walked over there.

Last year, right after he was born, I wanted to take him so badly!  I couldn't wait until this fall to roll around so that we could take those cool fall pictures.  Matt did SUCH a good job taking pictures of him!  (And I obviously had a hard time picking just a FEW pictures)

 

 

Definitely a fun, family, birthday day!  We love you Barrett! Welcome to toddler-hood!

12 Months

Barrett is 12 months old.  I can't believe it!  

We have had a year filled with such joy, I don't think I will ever find the words to describe it.  We also had many sleepless nights, dirty diapers, unexplained crying, and lots of spit up.  But this little guy has forever changed our hearts and our lives.  I never knew love could run this deep.  And there is nothing in the whole world that I would rather do than take care of my sweet boy every single day.

Things I Don't Want to Forget

• how funny I think it is when he says " no no no" to me.  And he keeps doing whatever I told him not to do. I know by this time next year that will probably drive me crazy!
• how he drops everything and heads to the door (as fast as he can crawl) the second he hears the door open when Daddy comes home from work
• the expression in his eyes when he smiles at someone
• how he loves to "read" his books
• the excitement we feel when he "walks" us us.  We still have to help him quite a bit, but the determination is there!
• rocking him to sleep every night, while he is laying on my chest, giving me the biggest bear hug
• splash time during bath time
• how he says "ba ba ba" and waves to himself every time we leave the house

Signing "more" EVERYTIME he wants food ... not just when he wants more food

"no no NO no no no no" (in a sing songy voicee) = no

"ma ma MA ma ma ma ma" = mommy

"da da da da da da da da" = daddy

"dOOOOOOO" = down

"yeeawww"/ "ya" = yeah

"baaaw" = ball

"caw caw caw" = car 

"goh goh goh" = go (especially when he sees a car driving down the street)

"ba ba ba ba" while waving to himself = bye bye

Sock Monkey Birthday

We threw Barrett a Sock Monkey Party for his FIRST Birthday Party!  So hard to believe that our little man is ONE!  Thanks to Pinterest and some creative friends, our house looked so precious!  Gamma and Aunt Lindsey helped with all the last minute preparations.  So glad they were here!

So we didn't capture too many pictures where he looks excited ... until the sugar rush kicked in!  He was a rockstar with his very first cake!  Instead of explaining how the party went, I'm going to let the pictures do the talking! By the time we got back inside after cleaning Barrett off, Nana and all the Wilson girls had the cake mess from the kitchen cleaned up.  And Uncle Brandon had attacked the high chair with a hose.  (That was a Barrett's birthday gift to Mommy!)

We had a great time at Barrett's party.  Thank you so much to everyone who took time out of their weekends to come and celebrate with us.  We were surrounded by friends and family who have been a part of Barrett's life ever since we found out we were pregnant with him.  And to celebrate his first birthday with those who prayed for him before he was born, and supported and encouraged us as parents through his first year, was truly the icing on OUR cake!

First Aggie Game

We weren't going to let a little rain get in our way!  When we woke up on Saturday morning, it was raining so hard it blocked your vision!  But since Gamma and Poppy live so close to Kyle Field, we decided we would take Barrett to the game for his first glimpse of ATM football.

Although the weather kind of messed with our plans, Barrett had a great first experience at Kyle Field.  (And it made Mommy, Gamma, Poppy, and Aunt Lindsey very excited!)
