I can't believe this kid. I still think of him as my little baby, but he is most definitely NOT! He is growing into the coolest kid. I mean .... I love this Mom thing. Watching him grow, develop, and learn never ceases to amaze me. He's learning how to read, beginning to understand the concept of math and how to add numbers, and is making connections about the world that blow my mind. I wish I knew what the world looked like through the eyes of a five year old.
Since this birthday was the big FIVE, we decided to celebrate big with our families and friends. First stop, Gamma and Poppy's house for a family dinner with cousins. (I mean, we tend to do birthdays big anyway by celebrating birthday week!)

Too Cute
Poppy stayed at our house a few days later due to a late night flight. The next morning, he took Barrett on a Birthday Breakfast Date, and they practiced riding his new bike.
Then we took the day to enjoy the aquarium. Since school is in session, we basically had the whole place to ourselves! (Just the way we like it!)

Here We Go!!!!
Ok this little ride went MUCH faster than I thought it would! I had to brace myself with my foot on the side of our seat to stay IN the car! And I held on to Barrett for dear life. I was kind of shocked he didn't get scared. He loved it and laughed the entire time.
We DID It!
These Two Aren't a Fan of Loud Noises
It's possible we didn't have enough tickets for me to take the twins on one last ride before we left ..... and I talked our way onto the ride. And it's possible I guilt tripped the ticket taker onto letting us on. But look at these faces! It was TOTALLY worth embarrassing myself for.
Until next year State Fair!!
Big Shocker .....
Of COURSE Payton is The One NOT Passed Out!
FINALLY the big birthday came! The kids were exhausted from our week of fun. So we laid low, rested, and went to dinner at Barrett's favorite "fancy" restaurant.

Obligatory Family Pic
We took advantage of the nice weather and went for a walk after dinner. The kids had fun playing in the gazebo Parker's Princess castle and with the pumpkins.
Finally it was cupcake time! Sweet boy was so tired he barely ate this cupcake.
Happy 5th Birthday Sweetheart
We love you so much
The next morning we had a "Barrett's Favorite Things" playdate at the park. I found a donut place that made donuts that said "Happy Birthday Barrett," but the only picture I took of them was upside down and blurry. Just going to have to trust me that it was super cute.

See that big knot on his head? Party Foul! For real ... he got a little party injury when his head hit the end of a stick. Oops!
