New School, New Teachers, New Friends

Starting school this year had been way less emotional than last year.  I saw how much he grew and learned last year, and he loves school.  So this year is full of excitement!

The only thing I was a little nervous about was how he was going to react to a new teacher.  He had such a special relationship with his teachers last year, and I think we will always hold a special place in our hearts for Mrs. Byars and Mrs. Leon.

On meet the teacher day, I was prepared to really have to "sell" this new school to him.   But the first thing we found noticed when we walked in was that he is in the Sports room.  Whew! The room is filled with sports paraphernalia, and it even has a basketball goal.

But These Two Made Themselves Right At Home

Then Mrs. McEwen came over and made Barrett feel at ease.

After a long weekend, (Thanks Labor Day!), the first stay of school crept up on us.  I completely thought I was going to have to convince Barrett that he was going to have fun at school.  This kid does NOT like change.  However, he woke up this morning ready to go.  He was so excited when he woke up!  We ate breakfast, got dressed, brushed teeth AND hair ... all without a fight.

First Day Picture

The twins and I had to figure out what to do with ourselves while big brother was in school.  I'm used to them taking a long morning nap, which gave me the whole day to myself basically.  But now that they gave up their morning nap, I had to find a way to entertain these little nuggets all day.  So we made brownies!  The twins thought it would be a sweet after school surprise treat for their brother.
